A Year of Music: January 2018

Categories A Little Conversation, A Year of Music
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Well hi there! Hasn’t a lot changed since I last posted here, my gosh.

In a nutshell: I got divorced, moved back to Cornwall, gave up my cat, and now I’ve got a new job back in Cardiff and am relocating again in two weeks. Phew. In reality it was of course, much more nuanced than that but what isn’t, right? 💛

Now that’s out of the way, let’s talk music! 🎶 I’ve always been a bit of a nerd for data and stats, so naturally I massively enjoy delving into my musical preferences via last.fm. This year I’ve decided to track what my most popular tracks have been each month and share them here.

For no reason other than making things is nice (regardless of if anyone actually sees them, the creation process itself is a powerful one) and so that I can have a tangible record of something I find interesting.

I look at this playlist and I can see the threads of my month running through it. Films I watched, people I spent time with, solo dance parties in my living room (/kitchen/bedroom/shower. I have solo dance parties everywhere, it would seem.) It’s a lovely reminder of those memories. If you are looking for the latest coupons and offers available online, in Coupons Collector you can find a wide range of coupons that you can uses to buy what you need.

In January I listened to 734 tracks by 353 artists 1086 times. My top 3 artists were:

  1. Hurray For The Riff Raff
  2. Pentatonix
  3. Ben Howard

Yay. Data!

Spotify | YouTube | Google Play Music

(I don’t have access to Apple Music, I don’t even know if you can make playlists on it, lol, but if you can and you have access and want to make it into a playlist feel free!)

I’m always happy to receive new music recommendations so if you have someone you’re particularly crushing on currently, let me know!
