Télégramme Magazine – Issue 7

It’s that time of year again, and another issue of Télégramme has hit the virtual shelves. Not sure what Télégramme is? It’s a photography showcase magazine that I publish online every six months or so, as a way to stretch my creative wings and to shine a little more light on some beautiful photographs. You can find all the posts I’ve written on the subject here, if you’re so inclined. The first issue came out in 2010, which feels like a long time ago now. Sheesh.

Featuring some of my favourite people: (in alphabetical order to alleviate favourtism:) Alistair Watkins-Stuart, Anna Wilton, Dianne Tanner, Luiza Potiens and Marina Oprea – this issue is one of my favourites yet :)

If you’re a fan of Télégramme I’d love it if you would please considering sharing it. Tweet it, post it on Facebook, write a blog post about it – if you want the press pack images just let me know.

Pst. There’s also a mailing list to get advance notice of new issues, if you like that sort of thing.

You can read issue 7 below. I hope you enjoy it.

Télégramme Magazine – Issue 6

We’ve come a long way, Télégramme and I. From issue one, with it’s scrappy layout and terrible fonts to issue six, with it’s sunny yellow theme and (I think) clean, elegant design.

Issue six featured five fantastic photographers:  Joe St PierreFabrizio MingarelliTuane EggersIrina Munteanu and Roslyn Julia :) It also featured themes: Golden Hour, Open Space and The Sea. If issue four was the concrete issue (all stark lines and empty buildings) and issue five was focused on people then issue six is without a doubt a celebration of nature.

It’s a labour of love to work on Télégramme, something I’ve made no bones about in the past. But I do it because I love it and I’m so happy that people seem to enjoy it.

If you like photography, especially 35mm photography then I urge you to follow the Télégramme magazine blog (when you’re done reading the latest issue, of course). I don’t update it as often as I’d like, but it has more of the same things you’d find in the magazine, so is worth checking out if photos are your thing.

There’s a mailing list now too, so if you’d like to know when the next issue is out then all you have to do is sign up here.

Phew. I’ve already started work on the next issue (which is going to be lilac, fancy) which makes a change from taking five months off and then rushing it in the last three weeks. Ha!

Télégramme Magazine – Issue 5

Telegramme Magazine Issue 5 Out Now!

Has it really been six months already? Issue 4 was published just before the wedding (yes, I know, I’m mad) so I guess it must be time for Issue 5 now, crikey. Featuring fantastic photos and illustrations from Agustina Lapenda, Leni Kauffman, Cassoday Harder, Emily Coghlan and Sarah Anne Wharton Kuhn this one really is a great one so I hope you’ll take a look.

This next bit might be deemed a little cheeky but my blog my rules:

Télégramme will always be a free venture. I don’t accept advertising so I make zero money and couldn’t care less, it’s all about showcasing these fantastic artists. Which is fine, money isn’t an issue and it costs very little to create. However, since I don’t accept advertising I rely on word of mouth to let people know about each new issue, which isn’t always the easiest thing to procure.

So, what I’m asking is that if you like this issue that you please considering sharing it. Tweet it (@telegrammemag), post it on Facebook (FB page here), write a blog post about it – whatever you feel like doing is a-okay by me. Many thanks in advance from this grateful redhead.

Télégramme Magazine – Update

Posted by in Projects, Télégramme

Issue three of Télégramme came out in March (which feels so long ago now) which means that Issue four is scheduled to come out soon. I switched to a six monthly publishing schedule to give myself room to breathe but still seem to have left everything to the last month of the six, as per usual, heh.

I don’t even remember if I posted about issue three when it came out, but I’m going to link to it here now because even if I did it doesn’t hurt to refresh, right?

The first three issues have had over 12,000 reads and over 285,000 page views, which is pretty awesome. I’m hoping to get issue four out before the wedding (19 days and counting for those who care ;) ) – it’s mostly done. I also shifted it to it’s own domain so if you want to keep up with all things Télégramme related you can see it here or follow the twitter account :)

Things I Did That You Might Not Know About

Posted by in Projects, Télégramme

I made a magazine, once. Actually, I made a magazine twice. Then I burnt myself out trying to do it all too quickly, took a year off and didn’t think I’d ever do it again.

Issue 1 – Télégramme Magazine

Issue 2 – Télégramme Magazine

I’m in the midst of working on issue 3. It’s mostly together, there are a few bits and loose ends to tie up but it’s getting there. Probably most of the readers of this blog have come in the last 12 months or so, so maybe you weren’t aware that before I was a bit of a wreck I used to be the editor of something really worth looking at. Who knew?

I’d love it if Issue 3 could generate the same type of excitement that the first two did, so if you want to know more about it just add it on Twitter or follow it on Facebook. At the very least it’s giving me something to do, right?

Télégramme Magazine – Issue Two

Posted by in Projects, Télégramme

Remember that time when I decided it would be good to make a magazine, and then it took me 7 months to put together? But then when we launched it 8000 people read it and we all lost our minds through happiness?

Yeah, we decided to do it again. I’ve been in Cardiff this weekend for my birthday (which was yesterday and was fantastic, thank you). If you feel like giving me a belated birthday gift then please read this, and visit the people in it. We think they’re all amazing.

It’s Only Two Months Till My Birthday You Know

Posted by in A Little Conversation

I would like party bags at my birthday this year. And giraffes. No, I’m not going to be 12 I’m going to be 27 (on the 27th! Which excites me no end) but let’s face it, party bags are just cool – right?

We are also releasing the second edition of  Télégramme on my birthday, which was a coincidence but a nice one that we’re going to run with.

Traditionally, planning my birthday has been a bit of a tricky affair. If it’s on a weekend then most of my friends are inevitably away at Glastonbury (damn festival, spoiling my birthday) and since I don’t like mud, tents, portaloos or idiots* I don’t join them.

This year I wanted to go away, but it didn’t work out quite like that so instead I’ve asked a friend to plan it. All well and good, except for the small fact that he won’t tell me what he’s planning. Not a bean. I don’t traditionally like surprises, so hopefully he hasn’t taken it upon himself to take us all whitewater rafting or something, otherwise er, I might be down a few friends next year. Heh.

So long as I get my party bags, I guess I can get on board, but I really hope it doesn’t involve anything with the world ‘action’ in the title…

*No offence if you happen to like Glastonbury, but there are an awful lot of utter tools walking around, non?

Grace In Small Things

Posted by in Grace In Small Things, Projects, Télégramme

(see previous lists here)

  • empty streets, in the early morning sun
  • new crisp flavours
  • hot chocolate with marshmallows & cream
  • thinking it’s Sunday, when it’s Saturday
  • creating something beautiful

I know I said I was going to try to do a grace in small things once a week, and it hasn’t really worked out like that. But I do find it’s nice to come back and jot one down, it makes me more appreciative. So I guess the list is doing it’s job, whether I’d adhere to the timetable I set myself or not.

Introducing: Télégramme

Posted by in A Little Conversation, Projects, Télégramme

So, kidlets. I’ve been meaning to come here for weeks and blog about this (in fact, it’s been on my paper to-do list* so long it’s now written in red and highlighted, eek) but time slips by and things get in the way and before you know it the January launch date has been pushed back to March.

However, I wanted to let you know, dear reader (yes, that’s right, singular) that a few friends and I have created a beautiful magazine, and that we want you to see it soon because we’re damn proud of it and it’s taken ages.

Billed a photography showcase magazine, Télégramme is for people who like to experience photography, more than people who like talking about how they took their pictures (even tho we like that too, it’s not for these pages.). We have featured artists, some beautiful pieces and sets and a team of people behind the scenes that frankly, deserve a medal for their efforts.

If it sounds like something you might be interested in, then watch this space – we’ll be launching (fingers crossed) in early March.

*a post for another time, but a paper to-do list is working wonders on my life.
